The Warriors Are the Most Loved Team in the NBA, and That's Exactly Why They're Winning

When the Golden State Warriors drafted Stephen Curry 7th overall in the 2009 draft, no one ever thought they'd be building the best team in NBA history.

You don’t need to look at statistics or compare players. All you need to do is watch them play. Then, and only then, you will see that no matter what, these guys are the best team EVER.

Yes, even I said that the Warriors couldn’t compare to the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls, but I was wrong. I’m not looking at the fact that the Warriors are currently 23-0 or the fact that Stephen Curry is hands down the best player in the world. I’m judging off of one thing, they are unstoppable.

Honestly, no matter what anyone says or who anyone predicts might beat this team, they all know in the back of their heads that the Warriors probably won’t lose. It’s undeniable that these guys are, for some reason, the perfect team.

There isn’t one aspect of this team that you can argue is the best player of all time and there’s no way that talent wise, this team is one of the best ever. What you can argue is that watching them play is like playing NBA 2K16 against the Utah Jazz on rookie mode. It seems like they’re just going out there, making crazy shots, putting up insane offensive numbers, and having more fun than they’ve ever had each step of the way.

I’m going to paint you a picture….

The Warriors walk into the gym for warm ups and instead of yelling and trying to stay serious, they’re smiling, laughing, and jumping around dancing. Warm ups end and the teams come out of the locker room for the starting five announcements. Not one player on the Warriors runs through the tunnel of bench players without a smile on his face and each one of them are yelling for each other.

The game starts and Curry hits the opening jump shot of the game. Instead of running back on defense showing little emotion, Curry is cheek-to-cheek smiling while Draymond Green yells, “Threeeee!” By the end of the second quarter, the Warriors are up by eight points and instead of stressing, they are joking.

By the end of the third quarter, the team is up by 15 points and Curry and Green are sitting on the bench laughing at each other. By then, it’s pretty obvious that the Warriors are going to win, so what do they do? They let players like Shaun Livingston and Jrue Holiday go have as much and fun as they’ve been having.

Did you catch on? It’s not that the Warriors are more talented or that they have a better overall team, it’s because they have more fun than anyone else.

They’re a bunch of kids playing at the local rec center or outdoor court. They don’t play like they have something on the line, they play like they aren’t keeping score. Everyone says that you play differently in games than you do in practice… unless you’re the Golden State Warriors because they don’t see it as a game.

That’s their secret. It’s not special juice or a magic basketball that contains star players’ talent, stolen by aliens. It’s the amount of fun they’re having.

So far, it’s been impossible for any team to go undefeated through an entire NBA season. At the beginning of the season, no one would have said that any team would finish undefeated. Two weeks ago, no one would have said that any team would finish undefeated. Today, if you ask anyone if the Warriors will go undefeated, people might hesitate to answer.

They’ve changed the minds of thousands. With each game, they continue to make everyone believe that the impossible may be possible. It’s pretty fair to say that until the Warriors stop having fun, other teams better start looking for that magic ball those aliens have.
